BIO-FED M∙VERA® GP1015 / Bio-based
What is this bio-base compound?
A partly bio-based and biodegradable compound for injection moulding with relatively high rigidity. The renewable content in the polymer is approximately 70%. The sample is coloured green by using AF-Eco® Masterbatches, also produced by the BIO-FED company. Products made from this material may be certified according to the EN 13432 standard. This is a standard for industrial compostability of the finished products.
The M·VERA portfolio includes a variety of materials for extrusion or injection moulding with a variable bio content and composting certificates.

Technical benefits
The rigidity of the material is fairly high, so it is suitable for applications that require high stiffness. The compostability does not affect the material's performance in normal service environments. On request,
the material is available with food contact approval.
Look and feel
The sample is green, but the natural colour of the material is a light cream, so it can be coloured in a variety of colours.
Environmental benefits
The renewable content in the polymer is up to 70% which lowers its carbon footprint by decreasing the use of fossil-based resources. Due to the industrial compostability, food packages and cutlery made from this material can be composted together with food waste and leftovers.
Applications
The grades for injection moulding can be used for coffee capsules, cutlery, cosmetic packaging, toys, plant clips, and other similar products. Other M-Vera compounds can be processed as films for shopping bags, labels, and agricultural applications
Why we chose this material bio-based compound
We wanted to assess a biodegradable material with high renewable content and mechanical properties similar to most engineering plastics. Now we are eager to see how this material is used in new and innovative ways.
Why you should consider this material
-
You want to reduce the carbon footprint of your products.
-
Your application would benefit from the option of industrial composting.
-
You want to use a material with a high bio-based content combined with good mechanical characteristics.
